Henry Kaplan is a Los Angeles based director known for his ability to create highly visual and affecting works.
Inspired by short films with styles that convey a highly specific concept, Henry's strategy hinges on ‘effective’ directing and leading with thorough communication. By choosing to prioritize the intended emotional effect of a work on his audience, he reverse-engineers the appropriate filmmaking style to match, rather than embrace one routine aesthetic.
His diverse style is put to great effect for musicians and bands including Charly Bliss, TW Walsh and St. Lucia among others.
With a background in editing, Henry has directed shorts and music videos which have garnered numerous Vimeo Staff Picks. In 2015, he was shortlisted for the D&AD Next Director Award.
His acclaimed 2017 short film "We Together” premiered on Vimeo's Short of the Week, was screened at the Slamdance Film Festival, and was paired with Get Out in a nationwide theatrical run at the Alamo Drafthouse theaters.
